Johannes Henricus van
der Palm (1763-1840) was for part of his life a Dutch Reformed
minister in the Netherlands. He was also a Professor of Oriental
languages. It was his opinion that the language of the commonly
used State-Bible had become obsolete, so he decided to produce
a new translation. It took 40 years of his life to produce this
work but his Bible translation with comprehensive marginal notes
is very much appreciated.
