family Gosse: "The family Gosse was one of the most important
bookshop families in The Hague in the eighteenth century.
Both Pierre Gosse senior, who came as a refugee to the republic,
as well as his son Pierre Gosse junior managed to acquire
important positions. The latter even succeeded in becoming
a book salesman in the court of Willem V."
Pierre Gosse Jr (1718-1794) was, since 1749, holder of
the title " Bookseller of the Oranjes". In 1763,
this did in fact become an official post.
