Victor Alexander Dela Montagne was born in Antwerp on
October 1854. He was the son of a printer. After his school
years he worked in the family business until he became an
official at the Ministry of Justice in 1880. He also wrote
poems and plays for the theatre. He is described as a melancholy
poet, inspired by nature and love. At the start of the First
World War, he was sent to Le Havre. He died a year later,
on August 19, 1915 at Sainte Adresse, France, a village near
Le Havre, at age 60.
