Bernard ter Haar was a Dutch minister, poet and professor.
He was born in Amsterdam on June 13, 1806, as the son of Barend
ter Haar and Johanna Judith Hamming. He studied theology and
literature, first in Amsterdam and then later at the University
of Leiden. He was a minister for 24 years in different churches.
In 1854 he was appointed to be a Professor in Theology at
Utrecht, which position he fulfilled until1874. The last years
of his life, he lived in Velp where he passed away on November
19, 1880.
