Puerto Plata is just beyond Santo Domingo in Santiago,
the third city of the Dominican Republic. It is situated on
the north coast - it is the capital of the Puerto Plata province.
The city has a population of 200.000 inhabitants. Puerto Plata
was founded in 1496 by Bartholomeo, who was Columbus’
brother.
One of the regular scheduled buses has
a sign that reads:
'Grande es Jehovah' or 'Great is Jehovah'
