Vienna - St. Michaelkirche

City: Vienna is the capital of Austria. The city, located in the North-East of the country, lies on the river Danube. There are approximately 1.697.982 inhabitants. For many years Vienna was the Imperial capital and residence of the Habsburgers. Because of its place on the World Heritage list the historical city centre of Vienna has ensured its reputation as a cultural site. Many old beautiful buildings, castles (Palast Hofburg, Schloss Schönbrunn and Schloss Belvedere), museums, parks, statues, theatres, operas, music shows and much much more attract many tourist annually.

 

Building: The church St. Michael (in German St. Michaelkirche) is one of the oldest in Vienna. Building of the church started in the year 1220. The church carries the name of the archangel Michael, and they also have a statue of him. The Tetragrammaton is written on the shield he carries.
