Brussels - Kerk St. Jan de Doper ter Begijnhof

City: A description of Brussels via a few facts and statistics: 148,873 inhabitants (2008), a population density of 4,566 inhabitants per square km, 30% foreigners, the capital of Belgium, the seat of the major European institutions: the European Commission and the Council of the European Union, architectural heritage, historic heritage.

Building: Kerk St. Jan de Doper ter Begijnhof This church is the only remnant of the beguinage from the 13th century. The Baroque building was built between 1657 and 1676. The interior decoration is typical of the Flmish art of the 17th century.

Object: Inside is a statue representing the High priest. On his headgear is written (Exodus 28:36): "Holiness to JHWH". The intention is clear but the characters are not according the tetragrammaton. Nevertheless interesting to see.
