City: The city of Dendermonde, situated
where the rivers Dender and the Scheldt meet, mostly constructed
around the Castle built by Otto II, Emperor of the Holy Roman
Empire in the second half of the 10th century, . The city
with about 44 000 inhabitants is located in the triangle of
Antwerp-Gent-Brussels. Places to see are the medieval buildings
and manor houses, the City Hall with bell tower (placed in
1999 on the World Heritage list), the Béguinage, Guild
House of the Butchers, and much more.
