Kontich - Sint-Martinuskerk

City: is a municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp. It is located about 9 kilometres from Antwerp and 32 km of Brussels. The origin of the name is likely from the Roman word Condacum, "the place near the confluence (merging of two streams of water)". This refers to the merging point of the Rupel and the Scheldt at the time when the territory of Kontich was more expanded. There are 20,290 people presently residing in Kontich (2008).

The church Saint-Martinus is found in the middle of Kontich. The church is believed to be from the 12th century.
