Ypres - St. Pieterskerk

City: Ypres is a town in the South-West of the Belgian province of West Flanders. Ypres is known worldwide for the battles that took place there during the First World War. There were four major battles at Ypres. In the fourth battle, on 18 March 1918, Ypres was almost totally destroyed. The city centre, the great Market, however, still has a medieval look because of the old houses, or the reconstruction of them.

Building: St. Pieterskerk

The St. Peters Church is located in the Rijsel Street at Ypres (translated - Ieper). The Romanesque Church, built in the 12th - 13th Century, was converted to a Gothic hall church at the end of the 15th century. The church was badly damaged during the first World War, only the arches remained intact.

Object: At the left front elevation of the church is a painting on which the high priest of Israel is represented.
