Visovac (Krka National Park) - Monastery

City: The Visovac monastery, that we are showing here, lies on an island in the Krka National Park. This Park has an area of almost 111 square kilometres. It is named after the river Krka the source of which is on the foot of the western part of the Dinar-mountains. The area is known for its many beautiful waterfalls, and, of course, the beautiful fauna and flora.

Building: In the middle of Lake Visovac is a little island with a Catholic Franciscan monastery. It was built in the 14th century by Augustinian monks. In 1445 an extension was added and it was taken over by the Franciscan monks.

Object: In the monastery is a painting with the Name of God in the form of the Tetragrammaton.
