Valec - Church

City: Valec is a municipality in the Czech Republic. This municipality lies 12 kilometres north-east of Žlutice and belongs to Okres Karlovy Vary (Karlovy Vary district). The settlement of Valec was founded in the first half of the 13th century. There is already notification of a castle in 1358, which is still today a point of interest. Valec received city rights in 1514 from Vladislav II, King of Bohemia and Hungary. Today there are 407 inhabitants living here.

Building: In the church, which now is redecorated, is a beautiful pulpit with many images or tableaux. The images are representing the prophets of the Bible. We can see Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Joel, Obadiah, Zechariah and Amos. In the shining cloud there are several instances of Hebrew characters and at first glance it would appear to be the 'Tetragrammaton'.
