Arnay le Duc - Saint Laurent

City: "the gateway to the wine-growing slopes" or "the key to Burgundy" -Arnay-le-Duc is described in both these ways. This cosy town is located in the French Department of C'ote d'Or, in the middle of Burgundy. The 1,829 inhabitants (1999) are called Arnétois. In addition to the fact that the town prides itself on the cuisine using local products such as wine, champagne, cheese and meat, is it also proud of the title 'station verte'. ‘Station verte’ is literally translated ‘green resort'. In this case it is referring to the authentic rural and natural areas surrounding it.

Building: originally the church was an enhanced chapel which was part of the Château de la Motte-forte. It was in the year 1092 that the church was donated to the town by nobleman Gérard d'Arnay . The current church dates from the 15th/16th century and is known for its beautiful stained glass windows.

Object: in one of the stained glass windows, at the top, the name of God is depicted as can be seen in the photos.
