City: "the gateway to the wine-growing
slopes" or "the key to Burgundy" -Arnay-le-Duc
is described in both these ways. This cosy town is located
in the French Department of C'ote d'Or, in the middle of Burgundy.
The 1,829 inhabitants (1999) are called Arnétois. In
addition to the fact that the town prides itself on the cuisine
using local products such as wine, champagne, cheese and meat,
is it also proud of the title 'station verte'. ‘Station
verte’ is literally translated ‘green resort'.
In this case it is referring to the authentic rural and natural
areas surrounding it.
