Auterive (Haute Garonne) - église Saint-Paul

City: Auterive is a town and municipality in the French Department of Haute Garonne. The region in which this site is located is called Midi-Pyrénées. Auterive describes itself as a privileged place located between Toulouse and the Department de l’Ariege, at a major crossroad. This municipality is situated 15 km from Nailloux, 30 kilometres from the airport of Blagnac, 3 hours from Barcelona, 2 hours from the Mediterranean Sea and 1 hour from the ski slopes in the Pyrenees. Auterive today is an agricultural and commercial centre, which also offers to tourists many walking and sporting activities.

The history of this village goes back to the time period of the Gallo-Roman society. Archaeological findings show habitation even before this. During the Middle Ages the territory was for many years an object of struggle between different Lords. Auterive had its share of bad times in the course of the history. During the Albigensian crusade (13th century), it was partially destroyed.

Today there 8,435 residents living here who are called les Auterivais.

Building: Saint-Paul church.

This church dates from the end of the 13th century. The style of the church is Romanesque.

Object: the main altar and table dates from the 18th century. Above an image of the Lamb, lying on a book with seven seals, we can see a radiant triangle surrounded by clouds and angels. Inside the triangle is the Divine name. We would make the comment that the third and fourth letters (right-to-left) are swapped over from their correct places.
