Bligny-sur-Ouche - église Saint-Germain-d'Auxerre

City: in the Burgundy region, in the Department of Côte d'or, in the upland valley of the river Ouche we find the picturesque village of Bligny-sur-Ouche. The Ouche flows through the centre of the village to the water mill and then a few kilometers further to the 'Canal de Bourgogne". The atmosphere of the village can be described by words such as quiet, calm, friendly. The narrow streets with the old buildings present an open invitation for many walkers. There are also a few shops, museums, restaurants and two places for wine tasting, which charm tourists to the area.

The municipality has a population of 831 inhabitants called les Bélinéens.

Building: at the end of the Rue de l'Eglise is the old church that we are showing. The church dates back to the 13th century and was built in the Romanesque style. The tower is Gothic. The church was originally part of a castle that was destroyed in 1478 on the orders of Louis XI.

Object: God's name can be found here on the tabernacle of the altar. A tabernacle is a richly decorated vault on a high altar or side altar. In this vault a ciborium or vessel is kept containing consecrated eucharistic breads. At the top of the decorated tabernacle of this altar, where we also see the Lamb with the scroll with seven seals, is the name of God as JHWH.
