City:Cherbourg Octeville is
a city in the north-west of France, in the region of Lower
Normandy. The current city arose when the city of Cherbourg
absorbed Octeville in the year 2000. The city, 355 km west
of Paris, is a port city on the North Sea.
Building:One of the oldest
historical monuments of the city is the Basilica Trinité.
The current basilica stands on a site where many previous
churches once stood and were destroyed by events such as the
invasion of the Vikings, and the Hundred Years War. The current
church was built in the 15th century (construction was completed
between 1450-1466).
