Digne-les-Bains - cathédrale Saint Jerome

City: Digne-les-Bains is a city with a medieval heart and an even older history "-according to a description for tourists. Another Internet site describes the city as the capital for lavender. Both are good descriptions of the city and the region. The city, situated where the Provence meets the Alps, with its thermal baths, long rambling paths, the River Bleone and a large wooded environment, a popular attraction for many people. The more than 17,600 inhabitants of this city, situated in South of France, are called Dignois. In this city are two cathedrals.

 

Building:The cathedral Saint Jerome is located on the highest point of the old town. The typical gothic cathedral was built circa 1490 - 1500.

 

Object: On candlesticks inside the church God's name in the form of the Tetragrammaton is clearly written. There is also a painting to see in an aisle (first photo of the second band of images"). In this painting one can observe Hebrew text. Some artistic freedom has been used here.
