Nolay - St. Martin

City: The beautiful medieval village of Nolay, built on the site of a Gallo-Roman settlement, has been for centuries a blossoming town based on agriculture and wine cultivation. This French village is situated in Burgundy and is considered to be one of the most beautiful places on the Côte d'Or.


Building: The church of Saint Martin was built in the 15th century on the remains of an older Romanesque church. The church collapsed in 1641 and was rebuilt in 1643 in accord with the plans of architect Caristie.


Object: God's name is found in the form of the Tetragrammaton on the door of the tabernacle, of the main altar.
