Plonévez-Porzay - chapelle Saint Anna la Palud

City: Plonévez-Porzay is a municipality in west France, in the region of Brittany. The 1,600 inhabitants are called Plonévéziens.

Building: The chapel of Saint Anne la Palud stands on the edge of the sea. The word ' Palud' means ' swamp'. The use of this word in the name of the chapel refers to Ana, a Celtic goddess especially worshipped in swamps. Worshipping Ana is consequently deeply rooted in the culture of Brittany.

Object: The chapel Saint Anne la Palud was rebuilt at least 4 times. The last time was in 1866. On two altars (left and right side) is God's name written in Hebrew.
