Salernes - église Saint-Pierre

City: Salernes is a French community situated in the département of Var (in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur), in the South of France. the first recorded mention of the place was in 1007, when it was referred to as Salerna. The origin of the name is probably from the Latin expression ‘Salis terranum ", what means ‘Salt of the Earth’. This town developed around the Castle. Today there are approximately 3,600 people living here.

 

Building: The church Saint-Pierre, built in Romanesque style, dates from the 13th century.

 

Object: God's name can be seen on an altar, written as the Tetragrammaton.
