Strasbourg - église Saint-Pierre-Le-Vieux

City: Strasbourg is a city in the north east of France. The city, with approximately 264,000 inhabitants, presents a long history, going back before the time of the Roman Empire. Strasbourg today is known as the seat of the Council of Europe and the European Court for Human Rights. It is, together with Brussels, also the seat of the European Parliament.

Building: For many historians the church Saint-Pierre-Le-Vieux is the prime cathedral of Strasbourg. This church is mentioned for the first time in the year 1130. The church of today is an exceptionally unusual building, in the sense that there are now two churches built against each other – but with one name for the both of them. On one side is a Protestant church, on the other side a Catholic one.

Object: On the right altar God's name can be seen, written as JEOUA.
