Villefontaine - église Saint-Martin

City: Villefontaine is described as the city that moves! The city is proud of the fauna and flora that it has to offer. Villefontaine is a municipality in the French Department of Isère, Rhône-Alpes region. It is situated in the West of France. In an area of 11,63 kilometres there are 18,721 inhabitants (2007). The residents are called Villard(e)s.

 

Gebouw: The current church was built between 1752 and 1756. The only part of the older church which remains is the sundial, placed in the southern outer wall.

 

Object: In front of the church is a cross made of wrought iron. A montage has been constructed there. Below this is the ‘Lamb of God’ shown on a scroll with seven seals - a reference to the Bible book of Revelation. At the top of the image is a radiating triangle with the Tetragrammaton.
