Bremen - St. Petri Dom

City: Bremen is a city in Northern Germany, along the river Wezer. The city has approximately 548,000 residents, which makes it the 10th largest city of Germany. The city was mentioned for the first time in 782. Charles the Great founded a diocese here 5 years later.

Building: The ‘Dom’ or Cathedral was constructed between the 11th century to the 13th century. The northern side of the church was converted to a late-Gothic hall church in the latter part of the 17th century.

Object: There are several epitaphs in the church. The epitaph here below concerns Catharina Santvoort, she died in 1590. Above the two coats of arms God's name is written as JHWH with the masoretic vowels ‘e - o – a’.
