City: Within the nature park of Hochertaunus
lies Ebersgöns, a village where approximately 775 people
live. The city is mentioned for the first time in a treaty
of 1197 as Eberhartesgunesso (Göns-Ort of the Eberhard
- Gönsoord of Eberhard). In the middle ages Ebersgöns
belonged to the county of Cleeberg. In 1298 the village was
transferred to the duchy of Nassau. The story continues. In
1816, the village was given by exchange to the kingdom of
Prussia and remained there until the year 1945. In 1977 Ebersgöns
became a district of Butzbach.
Building: A church was mentioned for
the first time here in a document of 1360. In 1690 there was
a substantial extension. There was also a further considerable
extension in 1772.
Object: God name is written here on
a gravestone which was found in 1958. The text is in memory
of the deceased Hedwig Weigel, a woman of the ‘Küchenmeister’
of the count or master cook who had control over the kitchen
of the count. This woman died on 2 February 1607, age 30 years.
The text is:
