Ediger-Eller - Kreuzkapelle

City: Ediger - Eller is a municipality in Rheinland - Pfalz, on the river Mosel (Moselle). This municipality has about 1000 residents. The first time this place was mentioned on official papers was in 639. Yet it would appear from evidence of pottery that it may have been inhabited by the 2nd or 3rd century.

Building: High above the view of Ediger-Eller is a chapel named 'Kreuzkapelle', inaugurated in 1480 by the inquisitor Heinrich Institoris.

Object: Inside the chapel is the famous relief of 'Christus in der Kelter' (Christ in the wine press), which is an allegory to 'the blood of Christ that as the wine of deliverance feeds the hope of mankind'.
