City: Kleinern presents itself as a
“Luftkurort” of excellence. A Luftkurort or air
cure resort is in Germany a well-known area where both the
air and the climate are of a quality that it is considered
to be very favorable for health and recuperation. Tests are
carried out regularly to see if this status can be maintained.
For this reason many tourists are eager to visit Kleinern
and the surrounding beautiful forests, meadows and river landscapes
for a combined good holiday and delicious gastronomy.
Kleinern is a small village in Germany, in the federal
state of Hessen, approximately 35 kilometers south of Kassel.
The village numbers approximately 614 inhabitants today. The
first time that the village was mentioned in historical documents
was in 1225. However there were people living here from the
8th - 9th century.
Building: An original church was built
here by the 13th century. This church was demolished due to
extensive unrepairable damage, after which a new church was
built from 1681 up until 1694. This was under the supervision
of Earl Christian Ludwig von Waldeck. The style of the church
is baroque.
God’s name: God’s name is
written on a epitaph. It is the epitaph of Iohann Martin Pilgrims,
born on December 29, 1653 and who died on October 30, 1693.
Below is written ‘Jehova Mea Portio’ – ‘Jehovah
my part’. These words are possibly a reference to Psalm
119:57.
