Building: In Hamadan, formerly
Ecbatana, there is a Mausoleum often visited by Jewish pilgrims
and tourists. The building itself is not considered to be
very valuable. The construction is Islamic and consists of
an entrance, a vestibule, a sanctuary and a Sha-ni-shin (also
called 'Kings sitting place').
What is contained inside the Mausoleum is considered
to be very valuable. After all, they claim that the graves
of the Biblical queen Esther and her uncle Mordechai are there.
Two exquisite wooden coffins can be seen. One of which, is
of an earlier date than the other and bears an inscription
in Hebrew.
