City: Firenze is inItaly. It is the capital of the region
of Tuscany and the province of Florence. The history of the
city goes back to Julius Caesar. He built a settlement for
retired soldiers here in 59 BC. In the course of time the
city gained a reputation as a city of art, finance and as
the most outstanding renaissance town of Italy. It was even
for a certain period of time the capital of Italy –
from 1865 until1870.
The city numbered 368,362 inhabitants in 2009.
