Liempde - Standbeeld

City: "Liempde is a beautiful example of an old Brabantic land-village. Some of the fields, meadows and roads are from the Middle Ages. In Liempde you can get an idea about how the farming population reshaped the scenery from the bailiwick - these words, written on a blackboard, welcome visitors to Liempde. The beautiful and pleasant Liempde was merged with Boxtel in 1995. The former area of the village has 4,500 inhabitants. The village is often described as the "most beautiful town of Noord-Brabant".

Object Statue in park

In a beautiful landscaped park there is a statue with the divine Name. The statue is refers to a Biblical scene, the story of David and Goliath. ' The slim, little boy, is dressed in no more than a loincloth. He points to himself. He leans forward on his right leg, focuses on the sky and seems to ask himself: "I". Between his spread legs is the head of a man in the prime of his life '- according the information we received. This statue was placed in 1956 as a remembrance monument for fallen inhabitants of Liempde during the Second World War and the actions carried out in the Dutch East Indies.

On the statue is written: "1 SAM. 17 - 47 JAHWEH IS HET DIE DE STRIJD BESLIST". - "JAHWEH IS THE ONE WHO DECIDES THE BATTLE".
