Country: Slovakia is a country in Central
Europe. For centuries the country belonged to Hungary. From
1918 until 1993, with an interruption during the Second World
War, the country was allied with the Czech Republic. The neighbouring
countries of Poland are the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine,
Hungary and Austria.
Slovakia mainly consists of mountain areas, the Beskids
and the Carpathians. Only in the southern part, and in the
extreme south-east are there low-lying areas.
The country has a population of 5,455,407 people. 68.9%
claim to be members of the Roman Catholic Church.
