Huéscar - Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor

City: at the foot of the Sierra de la Sagra Mountains lies the picturesque city of Huéscar. This municipality is located in the Spanish province of Granada, in the region of Andalusia. The history of this place goes back a long way. The many archaeological artifacts found here certainly testify to this. In Roman times this place was called Osac, from which the current name is derived. Today there are 8232 inhabitants (2009) living here.

Building: the Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor (Ronda) is described as the most characteristic building of Huéscar. It was built in the beginning of the 16th century in the Renaissance/Gothic style.

Object: in the altarpiece, to the left of the wall of sculpture against the wall, made by Ribero Diaz (1592-670) there is a statue the left side. Below the statue "Jehovah" is beautifully written.
