Mariënburg - Kingdom Hall

City: The village of Mariënburg is situated in the North of the country, in the Surinamese district of Commewijne. Mariënburg was in former days an area known for its sugar plantations, a sugar refinery and for dwellings associated with sugar plantations. Previously, there was even a coffee plantation. The first plantation was built here in 1745.

Today there are approximately 4,500 people living here.

Building: Jehovah's Witnesses have a Kingdom Hall here, a place where they meet for their worship and Biblical teaching.

Object: God's name can be seen here twice. The first time is on a Board at the entrance, the second time it appears in ornamental letters on the stage. This second time God’s name is written as the Tetragrammaton.
