Ragunda - Gamla kyrka (Old Church)

City: Ragunda lies in a complete beautifully area between mountains and the sea. This town is very popular with tourists and is the most popular attraction with tourists. Ragunda is a municipality in the north of Sweden, in the province Jämtlands län. The area of this municipality is so large that with an estimated 6300 inhabitants there are about 2 inhabitants for every square kilometer (km ²).

Building: The Gamla kyrka or Old church was probably built in the year 1400 by a Danish monk. A remarkable detail is that the church has no doorways or windows to the north. This was because it was believed that evil would come from the north. A new church was built in 1853. The next reopening was in 1931. The church is now used during the summer.

Object: God’s name is found several times inside in the church.

Band of images 1: In the first instance God’s name is placed on the pulpit chair. Inside a radiating sun is written the Hebrew characters JHWH.
