Country: Switzerland is a country in
central Europe. Its neighbouring countries are Germany, France,
Italy, Austria and Liechtenstein. Switzerland came to existence
on August 1, 1291, when the cantons of URI, Schwyz and Unterwalden
(Holy Roman Empire) founded a confederation. Its independence
was however, not recognised until the Treaty of Westphalia
in 1648. After a period of time many other cantons joined
them. Approximately 7,7 million people are able to enjoy the
many alps and beautiful lakes.
