name, the following photo is interesting. The name of God
can be seen in front of the building.The text below the Tetragrammaton
is: "In Honorem S. Ludovici. Deo Uni et Trino Dicatum.
A. MDCCCXXXIV".
Why is God's name written here in Hebrew? There are two
stories. One story is that, at the time the cathedral was
built, it was the only church in the entire area. Members
of other faiths were allowed to have their services there.
Another version is that the lettering was put there as a gesture
of friendship to the Jewish community.
