City: On July 24, 1847, Salt
Lake City was founded by 143 men, 3 women and 2 children.
They settled on the eastern side of the Great Salt Lake. The
first immigrants were Mormon pioneers trying to escape from
persecution due to their faith. Salt Lake City is now not
only the capital of the State of Utah but also the largest
city in the state.
